Hair extension home care

Proper at-home care will help keep your extensions looking beautiful, feeling healthy, and lasting as long as possible.

Keratin Bond Extensions

  • Wait 3 full days before washing.

  • Most clients can go 2–3 days between washes. However, everyone’s scalp is different. If you have an oily scalp, an active lifestyle, or a scalp condition that requires more frequent cleansing, washing every other day may be necessary. The goal is to keep your scalp clean and healthy while avoiding unnecessary overwashing.

  • Keep conditioner, oils, and masks away from the bonds.

  • For best results, use the shampoo and hair care products suggested in the salon. If choosing your own products, look for gentle, extension friendly formulas and avoid products with heavy oils or harsh/drying alcohols high on the ingredient list, as these may affect the longevity of your extensions and attachment points.

  • Always dry your bonds completely after washing.

  • Brush gently 2–3 times daily with an extension safe brush.

  • Separate bonds daily with your fingers to prevent tangling or matting.

  • Avoid applying direct heat to the bonds.

  • Never sleep with wet hair.

  • Sleep with hair in a loose braid or low ponytail.

  • Do not pull, pick, or twist the bonds.

Weft Extension

  • The base of your weft can hold onto oil, sweat, and product buildup, so it’s important to cleanse this area thoroughly. Gently sandwich the weft between your fingers and work the shampoo into a good lather along the base.

  • Thoroughly cleanse your scalp between each row. Use the pads of your fingers not your nails and work horizontally along the rows to remove oil and buildup.

  • Keep conditioner, oils, and hair masks away from the attachment area. Apply these products primarily to the mid-lengths and ends.

  • Always dry your roots and the base of the weft completely after washing. Repeatedly leaving moisture trapped around the weft can lead to unwanted odor and buildup.

  • Brush gently 2–3 times daily. Support the weft with one hand while brushing to avoid unnecessary pulling or tension.

  • Never go to bed with wet or damp hair. Make sure your hair and weft attachment area are completely dry before sleeping.

  • Sleep with your hair secured in a loose braid or low ponytail to help prevent tangling.

  • Avoid tight hairstyles or styles that create excessive pulling or tension on the rows.

  • Stay on schedule with your recommended move-up and maintenance appointments to keep your extensions and natural hair in their best condition.
